When I was pregnant, like many other expecting first-time moms, I received a ton of unsolicited advice. I was constantly fed advice on what to do during pregnancy, childbirth and as a parent–some of it useful and some not so much. But there is one thing that NOBODY told me to prepare for…postpartum hair-loss and thinning. Seriously, how did no one give me a heads up about this? I remember showering a few weeks after Mason was born and I noticed a crazy amount of hair falling out and I was so freaked out! I actually brought it up to my doctor thinking there was something seriously wrong with me and she sort of laughed it off because it was so common. Apparently, it’s totally normal to lose an absurd amount of hair and or your hair to become noticeably thinner postpartum but nobody tells you about it until after it happens.

My weeks can be pretty crazy. Between running errands, doing housework and chasing my toddler around I’m exhausted by the weekend! I’m always both mentally and physically drained and in serious need of some me time. Thankfully, I have a hubby who lets me take time out of the weekend to pamper myself. While I would love to hit the spa every weekend that’s unfortunately not possible for me. So, I figured that if I can’t go to the spa I’ll bring the spa to me! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite products to share with you my routine for an at home spa day.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret here… I am a crazy person when it comes to teeth! A smile is the first thing I notice about someone’s appearance so I’m pretty obsessive when it comes to my own. Growing up, my teeth were HORRID. Like, adult teeth way too big for my mouth coming in in every which way. They were bad. Actually, bad is an understatement but you get the picture! Thankfully, my mom recognized this and made sure I had braces. I was definitely self-conscious about my smile but two phases of braces later and I love smiling. Smiling’s my favorite! (name that move 😉 ). But it’s no secret that I love my coffee and my wine so keeping my smile white is a struggle.
I’m going to be honest here… my hair has been through A LOT. After years of dye, bleach, heat and everything in between my hair was seriously struggling. No matter what products I tried (and trust me, I tried a lot of products) my hair still felt so dry and frail! I just figured that I was at the point of no return and was about to chalk it up as a loss all together. I longed for healthy, shiny locks but figured that past-me ruined that for my future. Anyone else in the same boat?! If you are, trust me… THERE IS HOPE.
I may only be in my 20s but I want my skin to still look like I’m in my 20s for another fifteen years or so. If you read about my daytime skincare routine you know how serious I am about my skin. I am actually sort of crazy about keeping my face looking fresh! Trying new products is so much fun for me, especially when I find one that I really like! I recently tried a retinol serum from Valentia Skin Care and it quickly became a staple in my nighttime routine.
