The Best Kid-Friendly Fall Activity in Pittsburgh

I don’t know about you but I love fall!  And having a little one to enjoy all things fall with makes it even better.  Of course I love pumpkin patches and apple orchards but what else is there to do as the weather gets cooler?  I definitely don’t want to be cooped up inside this fall so I’ve been searching for some family-friendly activities to fill up our calendar with.  If you’re in the Pittsburgh area, lucky for you because I found an awesome program you’re not going to want to miss out on!  This is definitely the best kid-friendly fall activity in Pittsburgh this year.

Looking for a fun kid-friendly activity in Pittsburgh? Be sure to check out the Citizen's Bank Children's Theater Series presented by the Cultural Trust!

The Citizen’s Bank Children’s Theater Series is a great way to get the whole family out of the house for a fun-filled day!  They offer shows for all ages as a fun way to introduce your kiddos to theater.  This is the 47th season that the Cultural Trust is putting on this series and they’re offering five different live shows.  The shows run from November-May at the Byham Theater and other locations around the region.

We will be attending the first show of the series, Dog Loves Books and I can’t wait!  The show is geared towards kids ages 3-10 but Mason is OBSESSED with “doggies” so I’m pretty confident that he will love it.  Dog Loves Books is a musical based on the New York Times best seller by Lousie Yates.  In the story, Dog loves books (duh 😉 ) so he decides to open his own bookstore.  Dog acts out all of the stories to his customers, including dancing dinosaurs and funny fairytales.  It looks like such a cute show! Plus, I can’t wait to see the awe in Mason’s eyes as he watches!

Most of the shows are recommended for ages 3 and older but all ages are allowed.  (Kiddos two and under are free with a lap pass ticket.)  Regular tickets are only $10.50 but season tickets are available as well.  Season tickets are as low as $42 and are a great way to have a regularly planned fun day out throughout the cooler months!

Shows run throughout the fall and winter and even into the spring.  The final show of the 2016-2017 season is scheduled to be a part of the 2017 EQT Children’s Theater Festival in the Cultural District on May 18-21.  We will definitely be checking out the festival in the spring so I hope to see all my Pittsburgh friends there!

Check out a full schedule of shows, times and locations here.  If you’re not in the Pittsburgh area be sure to plan a trip to hang out with me and take the kiddos to a show 😉 just kidding, sorta!  But definitely check out your local theater organization to see if your city offers anything like this for kids.  It’s such a great program to get kids involved with theater at a young age!

*Oh, and did I mention that there’s a GIVEAWAY ?! Be sure to head over to my Instagram to enter to win tickets!

Leave a comment below with what show you’d love to see!  And if you are in Pittsburgh and planning to attend any shows (which you totally should 😉 ) let me know! Let’s go together and make a day of it!
